Dr. Finley

Dr. Finley grew up in eastern Iowa - along the Mississippi river - and spent her time as a kid working on farms, competing in school athletics, and working with performance horses in high intensity sports (her recreational passion still to this day). She attended Iowa State University where she got a bachelor's degree in Animal Science then proceeded to attend Iowa State Veterinary School where she obtained her DVM. She started out her veterinary career in large animal medicine where she traveled around in the vet truck working for farmers and horse owners in central Iowa. She immensely enjoyed the relationships that were built on these adventures and acquired some amazing stories from those experiences.

Since Dr. Finley has always had an affinity for and strong interest in sports medicine and "whole-body approaches" to animal well-being (physical, mental, nutritional, etc.), it was clear that being able to focus her career pathway to rehabilitation based veterinary medicine (with a holistic twist) was a perfectly fitting career avenue for her. She finds great satisfaction in locating specific orthopedic and/or neurological issues, devising a whole-body/holistic approach to therapy/treatment of these problems, and watching how the dogs and cats experience relief from pain, dysfunction, improve performance or even just general comfort and gain an overall improved quality of life.

In her free time, Dr. Finley enjoys time at her little farm with her husband, old dog, two draft horse brothers, young quarter horse gelding, two birds, two snakes and a collection of barn cats that have wondered onto this property to call it home. She and her husband grow hay (harvested and baled using antique tractors and implements) and enjoy the fresh air of country living as much as possible. Dr. Finley still participates in and enjoys competition in western riding events with her horses, and occasionally still harnessing up and driving the draft team.
