Pawsitive Strides Rehabilitation and Therapy

PiezoWave Shockwave Therapy Device

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive treatment in which the application of short, intense sound waves to a specific site stimulates healing in a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.  This modality is used to deliver precise targeting of acoustic compression to positively influence cellular form and function of the treated areas.  It is used for the treatment of arthritis, tendon injuries, ligament damage, scar tissue, non-healing fractures or wounds, and other musculoskeletal injuries to trigger the body's self-healing process.

Does Therapy Hurt My Pet?

No. The process will begin by using the smallest amount of shock waves possible. The point is to apply a level that makes your pet turn its head, but no stronger than that. Many pets feel nothing at all during the procedure. However, the therapy is not painful for your furry pal and most pets just enjoy the attention as our technicians spends time with it. PiezoWave Shockwave or ESWT can be delivered with no sedation and with minimal noise.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Each treatment lasts for roughly 20 minutes. Several sessions will likely be necessary for your pet to experience the full range of benefits associated with Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy. The waves improve circulation, enhancing the natural ability of your pet’s body to repair itself.

How Will I Know When It Works?

You will see your pet's mobility and energy return as the treatment progresses. The treatment should work increasingly well as time goes on because the body learns to understand where to heal through the process.

What Pets Can Receive This Treatment?

Cats and dogs both benefit from Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy. It is well researched and effective for improving circulation and supporting your pet’s recovery process. When you first visit our office, our veterinarian will assess your pet’s condition to determine whether or not ESWT will meet your pet’s needs.
